Karen Ho Helpful in Making Sense of Financial Crisis

WALL-STREET-001Karen Ho‘s newish book Liquidated: An Ethnography of Wall Street continues to get positive press: today, in The Guardian. This in addition to an interview in Time in July, a mention in the NYTimes Economix blog, and a review in the Financial Times. (The latter, by the way, is written by a journalist/ anthropology ph.d. who tells us that bankers think an anthropology degree is “hippy.”)

The trope of the “Wall Street as tribe” figures prominently in most mentions of the book: if there’s an anthropologist, there must be a tribe nearby.
